Komodo dragons are apex predators known for their powerful build, sharp claws, serrated teeth, and strong tails. They primarily hunt deer, wild boar, and smaller animals, but are also scavengers. Their bite is especially dangerous due to venom glands that release toxins, preventing blood clotting, causing prey to weaken from blood loss and shock. They have an excellent sense of smell, using their forked tongue to detect scents from miles away. Despite their large size, they can run in short bursts, swim between islands, and even climb trees when young.
